Sorry to all you DC Snyder-Verse fans, but Zack Snyder has his hands full at the moment with the Rebel Moon release date. The space opera, Part One: A Child of Fire, is the director’s new Netflix movie, and Part 2 will follow soon after.
Rebel Moon buzz is understandably loud, considering the success of Snyder’s previous project for the streamer – Army of the Dead was among the best Netflix movies in years. What is the Rebel Moon release date?
Rebel Moon Part One will be released on Friday, December 22, 2023, on Netflix.
Coming out around the holidays means there should be plenty of time to settle in at home for a grand story set among the stars. Sounds good to us!
Part 2 follows on April 19, 2023. They shot the movies back to back, so we luckily don’t have to wait years between them.
Mind you; this date is only for the first cut of the movie since Snyder has confirmed there will be a director’s cut down the line, too. One family-friendly and one darker and more explicit.
Given everything that happened around The Snyder Cut (otherwise known as The Better Cut), it makes sense Netflix wants to capitalize on the idea of creative-first delivery.
Who’s in the Rebel Moon cast?
The Rebel Moon cast is packed with A-listers, including Sofia Boutella, Ed Skrein, and Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Sofia Boutella plays the leading role of Kora, Djimon Hounsou is General Titus, and Ed Skrein is a villain.
We also know that Anthony Hopkins is Jimmy: a sentient JC1435 mechanized battle robot who once served under the fallen king.
Ray Fisher will also work with Snyder again after his much-talked-about time making Justice League, and The Hunger Games cast‘s Jena Malone pairs with Snyder again after Sucker Punch and a small cameo in Batman V. Superman.

What will Rebel Moon be about?
Rebel Moon follows a battle against colonization as a group of young warriors is tasked with going head-to-head with tyrannical alien invaders.
Boutella’s character, Kora, will be sent to find warriors from neighboring planets in order to help fight back against Regent Balisarius and his plans to colonize Mother World.
Kora is a child of war and has been accepted into a small community. However, she can’t quite outrun her past and becomes pulled into the fight against their tyrannical government. She travels around to enlist fighters in the cause, establishing a team of rebels that includes all kinds of talented warriors.
Snyder has assured fans of his love for the sci-fi genre and his ability to do it justice, making references to Akira Kurosawa and Star Wars. Apparently, we’re to expect Man of Steel on steroids.
He has his sights set on an extended universe too, so expect plenty more from Rebel Moon if it makes waves.
Is there a Rebel Moon trailer?
The Rebel Moon teaser trailer was released on August 22, 2023, and a full trailer followed on November 13, 2023.
We were treated to a full-length trailer, which showed off all the incredible visuals and world-building. The film looks intense and earthy, and Boutella impresses us ahead of time.
