Spooky season might be over, but that doesn’t mean you need to miss out on spine-tingling horror movies this festive season.
With its shocking violence and themes — most famously that iconic shower murder — Alfred Hitchcock’s slasher movie Psycho isn’t one for the faint of heart. Even now, over 60 years later, it still strikes fear into the hearts of even the most hardcore horror movie fans.
Of course, back in the day, Hitchcock had to drive a hard bargain to avoid Pyscho being censored, so a popular urban myth is that he submitted a ‘strategic’ first cut of Psycho which included various sequences, scenes, and dialogue which, for a long time have never hit the public domain.
But did you know that you can own a copy of the original, uncut version of Psycho? It’s now being sold as part of a 4K Ultra-HD bundle alongside other Alfred Hitchcock thriller movies including Vertigo, Rear Window, The Birds, and the more edited, sanitized version of Psycho we all grew up with.
But was it is about Psycho Uncut that makes it unmissable? Well, according to the DVD’s back-cover on Amazon, this version of the film includes “additional footage” and is “exactly as intended by Alfred Hitchcock,” and is the same version that was seen in theatres back in 1960 before the film faced further censorship for subsequent theatrical, home entertainment, and television releases.
The good news is, as part of Amazon UK’s Black Friday sale, you can get this rare, uncut version of Psycho alongside four other of the Master of Suspense’s greatest work for 20% off its original price: setting you back just by £35.99. Be sure to snap it up for yourself and any horror buffs in your life before it’s too late — and Norman Bates comes for you…
