What is the That ’90s Show season 2 release date? Nostalgia hit like a ton of bricks when Netflix released the sequel TV series to the beloved 90s series – That ’70s Show – on January 2023. Set 20 years after its predecessor, That ’90s Show, follows the daughter of Eric and Donna Forman as summer break hits.
There are laughs, cameos, young love, and plenty of drama in That ’90s Show as Leia and her friends navigate adolescence and come into their own. In short, the new comedy series has it all when it comes to being a watchable sitcom. And with that in mind, fans are already wondering what is in store for Leia Forman as she sits in the same basement as her folks and hangs out with her colourful bunch of friends.
Well, The Digital Fix is here to answer all your questions regarding the future of the Forman household and the new TV series. Here’s what you need to know about the That ’90s Show season 2 release date.
That ’90s Show season 2 release date speculation
Netflix have given a season 2 the green light — but we don’t know the exact release date yet.
The streaming service confirmed the show would be coming back on February 3, with creators Bonnie and Terry Tyler staying in a statement, “We here in Point Place are thrilled that we’re doing a second season. We’d like to thank all of the fans old and new for tuning in. We’re truly grateful. Going to Point Place last season was a real treat for all of us. We’re thrilled to return.”
It’s worth noting that while season 1 of the 2022 TV series was 10 episodes long, season 2 of That ’90s Show is set to have 16. This means that production will take slightly longer.
Nonetheless, we reckon that we might get a season 2 by 2024 – although it’s more likely to drop in spring and summer than January.
That ’90s Show season 2 cast speculation
It’s safe to say that all the cast from season 1 will be returning, perhaps with some new faces, too.
The cast from That ’90s Show was a delicious blend between old favourites from That ‘7os show, and a new generation of Point Place teens, so hopefully we’ll see that happen again.

That ’90s Show season 2 plot speculation
Season 2 will need to address the love triangle between Leia, Nate, and Jay.
In the season 1 finale, Leia and Nate nearly kissed before being stopped by Gwen, with Jay, her boyfriend from Chicago, complicating things further by apologizing to her and asking her to give their relationship another try.
Before she had a chance to resolve this drama, Leia headed back to Chicago for a new school year — so we imagine season 2 will answer the question of whether Leia and Nate have unfinished business; and if so, there are bound to be wider implications for the group’s dynamics.
We know that the next season will take place in 1996, so it seems likely that season 2 will show Leia returning to Point Place once again for her summer vacation. Speaking to Collider, Reyn Doi, who plays Ozzie in the show, suggested that the creators’ plan was “to do every season in the summer”.
Meanwhile, with season 2 likely involving a year-long time-jump, Leia actor Callie Haverda told ComingSoon that she’s excited by the potential for her character and the rest of the gang’s development. “I think there’s so many different things that we could see Leia do,” she said. “All of the characters, I think there’s so much that we can do with all of their storylines and just continue to see them grow. I’m excited to see the different relationships, like what Leia will do and what will end up happening. Yeah, […] there’s a lot of good material there.”
