What We Know About The Cassian Andor Star Wars Show
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was a massive box office hit and is widely regarded as one of the best Star Wars films to date. It followed the story of the Rebel spies who managed to steal the Death Star plans that became the focus of the original Star Wars film.
Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, was one of those spies, and along with his sidekick - a reprogrammed Imperial droid named K-2SO, he was one of the central characters of the film.
In November 2018 it was announced that Disney were working on a new TV series for their Disney+ streaming network that would see Diego Luna return to the role of Cassian Andor.
When is the series going to be set
Given Cassian Andor dies at the end of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story alongside almost all of the main cast, it's pretty clear that the series will be a prequel to the events of that film. It'll follow Andor's time with the Rebellion before he meets Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones).
What will the show be about?
According to Disney's initial announcement, the show will be a "rousing spy thriller" and it "will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire".
Who will be starring in the show and who else is involved?
Other than Diego Luna we don't know. No other casting announcements have been made and no confirmation of any returning characters from the film has been forthcoming.
Given Andor's relationship with K-2SO (Alan Tudyk) we would hope to see that chemistry intact on the small screen. Whether or not Tudyk would voice the character is unknown.
The series showrunner is Stephen Schiff, we also expect involvement from the LucasFilm Story Group; especially Pablo Hildago.
When will the Cassian Andor series be broadcast?
Again, Disney haven't yet shared their broadcast plans. The series is expected to film in 2019 so it's a fair bet that it will debut either at the end of 2019 or in 2020.
