Ghost Rider debuts in new teaser for Agents Of SHIELD season four

Robbie Reyes / Ghost Rider is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe…

As Agents Of SHIELD prepares to return for a fourth season in the US, the first promo has been released, teasing the introduction of Ghost Rider to the show.

But it won’t be the Johnny Blaze version played by Nicholas Cage in the previous two less than stellar movies; this version is Robbie Reyes, played by Gabriel Luna. The arrival of Ghost Rider into the Marvel Cinematic Universe expands the already massing roster of heroes (you can check out Digital Fix writer Sean Mason’s thoughts on his arrival here).

Agents Of SHIELD showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen have also been discussing why they brought Ghost Rider into the latest season.

“It started out with a guy building a suit using science, and then we met aliens that are the origin of the myths behind some of our gods, and this year Doctor Strange comes out. We’re opening it up even further to the world of things we don’t totally understand, or as Thor says, ‘Magic is science that we don’t understand.’ Well, we’re getting into some very, very fancy science…

“Our team will definitely be trying to science this guy with the flaming skull.” – ABC

No word yet on the UK broadcast, but if it follows the season three broadcast on E4, it might be January before UK viewers get their first glimpse of Ghost Rider…
