Twin Peaks Is Saved! David Lynch To Direct More Than Nine Episodes Of The Show

It has been a dark time for Twin Peaks fans. After the surprise announcement in 2014 that Showtime was bringing back the show for nine new episodes, everything was put in jeopardy when the news broke that David Lynch had pulled out, suggesting the the long-awaited revival might never happen.

Now, thanks to the campaigning of thousands of fans over the last six weeks with the Twitter #SaveTwinPeaks hashtag and the the input of the show's original cast - led in no small part by Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne) - David Lynch has agreed a deal to direct all the episodes for the third season. Better still, fans will be getting more than the nine episodes previously announced.

David Lynch took to Twitter to announce the good news.

This was followed by an announcement from Showtime CEO, David Nevins.

"This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark and David tastes more delicious than ever. Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Pre production starts now!!

While the Twin Peaks revival was never officially cancelled, there were many that argued that Twin Peaks without David Lynch at the helm was no Twin Peaks at all. The second season certainly took a nose dive after the main mystery was solved and Lynch left the production. Thankfully with Mark Frost and David Lynch working together to bring us more of this world, Twin Peaks fans will finally get the closure they have been looking for!
