Timeless gets a surprise renewal for season 2, days after being cancelled
Time travel drama Timeless is one of those rare treats of the current TV season. It's Legends of Tomorrow with less of the camp, an intriguing overarching storyline and some great characters, moral dilemmas and plenty of twists and turns. So when it was cancelled this week by NBC there was quite the uproar. Co-creator/co-showrunner Eric Kripke was vocal about attempts to pitch to another network and was even pitching a family friendly version with co-creator Shawn Ryan.
However, those efforts have paid off and The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that NBC have eversed their decision, picking up Timeless for a 10-episode second season (the first consisted of 16 episodes and ended on a cliffhanger). It's not clear yet when season two will air, but it is expected to be summer 2018.
The show stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett as the time travelling leads and co-stars Goran Višnjić, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit. Season one aired on E4 here in the UK.
