Three cast members confirmed for The Punisher as production begins

Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle was one of the highlights of Daredevil season two and it was only a matter of time before a spin-off series was announced. But beyond that confirmation, details about The Punisher have been a little light until now.

Yesterday the first image from the show was tweeted, showing a bearded Bernthal on set as production on the show began. And now two new cast-members have been confirmed. Ebon Moss-Bachrach will be playing Micro, who serves as Frank Castle’s weapons supplier and technical whizz in the comics. Amber Rose Revah will be playing Dinah Madani, a Homeland security agent tracking Castle down.

Ben Barnes was previously confirmed as playing Billy Russo in the series, aka villain Jigsaw. Daredevil's Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), who had a deep connection with Frank Castle, has also been spotted on set.

The Punisher showrunner Steve Lightfoot made the following statement.

"I’m really excited about the cast we’re assembling alongside Bernthal as Frank Castle. I look forward to watching Ben, Ebon and Amber embody these characters and breathe vivid life into the story we are crafting for this season of Marvel’s The Punisher." - Marvel
.

With Iron Fist confirmed for March 2017 and The Defenders later next year, it is not clear where The Punisher will fit into Marvel and Netflix's schedule. However with production underway and rumours of a 2017 airdate, it looks as if we might be seeing more Frank Castle before Daredevil season three and Jessica Jones season two. Both heroes of course will return next year in The Defenders.
