The Wheel of Time TV series casts its Rand, Mat, Perrin, Egwene and Nynaeve
Following the recent announcement that Rosamund Pike has been cast as Moiraine in Amazon's The Wheel of Time TV series, the majority of the core cast has now been confirmed.
Joining Pike will be Josha Stradowski as Rand al'Thor, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Barney Harris as Mat Cauthon, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve and Madeleine Madden as Egwene Al'Vere.
The Wheel of Time is based on the epic 14-part fantasy book series by Robert Jordan (with the last three installments of written posthumously by author Brandon Sanders). The TV series follows Moiraine's journey to take a group of youths, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, to the city of Tar Valon to prepare for the ultimate fight with the Dark One.
Showrunner Rafe Judkins provided a comment on Twitter yesterday regarding the latest casting announcements. On Rutherford, he said:
"This man walked into the room, read a scene that made every single person watching cry, and walked out. We all looked at each other and said, 'He is Perrin.'"
On Robins, he added:
"We had the pick of the world on these cast members. Sent about two dozen Nynaeve tapes to the writers' room to see who everyone liked and every. single. person. had one response — Zoë."
