The Flash, Arrow and Legends Of Tomorrow to return in first slate of The CW renewals
Good news for fans of The CW's DC superhero shows - all three have been renewed for another year. The Flash, which is The CW’s most successful series ever will be back for a third year while its parent show Arrow will be back for a fifth. Time-travelling spin-off Legends Of Tomorrow will also be back for season two (and if the rumours are true will be adding Matt Ryan's John Constantine to be the main cast).
The long-running Supernatural will also be returning for a twelfth season, proving that you can't keep the Winchester brothers down. The Vampire Diaries was also renewed for season eight and its spin-off The Originals will continue for a fourth. Also in the slate of renewals is The 100 (Season 4), Jane the Virgin (Season 3), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (Season 2) iZombie (season three) and Reign (season four).
When announcing the renewals, The CW boss Mark Pedowitz stated that;
"The CW has become home to some of the most critically-acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas. As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017." - The CW.
