Another year of Reddington’s story is ahead
NBC have renewed The Blacklist for its seventh season – not a huge surprise given the previous season renewal was part of a two-year deal with Sony. However the renewal brings with it refreshed contracts for Megan Boone, Diego Klattenhoff and Harry Lennix; three of the main cast members. Series lead James Spader is also signed up until the end of the seventh season but that’s where his contract currently ends meaning there is a strong possibility that it could be the last year of the show.
The Blacklist follows the story of Raymond Reddington (Spader); a traitor turned informant who trades his knowledge of a blacklist of people who are propping up large scale crime around the world. Megan Boone co-stars as Elizabeth Keen – who may or may not be Reddington’s daughter who is an FBI profiler.
The Blacklist continues to have solid ratings in the US despite being moved to a Friday night slot that usually struggles with viewer numbers and is therefore a solid proposition for NBC for the foreseeable future. The Blacklist season six is currently broadcasting on Sky One and NowTV in the UK.
Guessed the spoiler? Are modern audiences too savvy for TV show twists?
