Star Trek: Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn set to return as Spock and Number One

While we wait with baited breath to see if we get a new Captain Pike Star Trek series set aboard the Enterprise – and CBS, if you’re reading this we REALLY, REALLY want that – we do have news that both Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn are both set to reprise their roles as Spock and Number One in one of the Short Trek episodes that have already been shot.

In the episode ‘Chaos Theory‘ we’ll get to see the Enterprise colleagues back on our screens. It appears that this episode was written by Michael Chabon who wrote the excellent ‘Calypso’ short in the previous run.

In addition, we also know there will be at least one animated Short Trek episode this time around.

Speaking about the Short Trek stories, Alex Kurtzman said “What I love about the Short Treks is that to me they are an experimental training ground, and a place to experiment with different things. Directors who we’ve never worked with before, tones we’ve never tried before.”

On the subject of more adventures with Anson Mount’s Captain Pike he was a little more defensive but certainly hasn’t ruled out the idea.  Kurtzman said “I would be remiss in saying you’re going to see Spock again on Discovery because we’ve obviously jumped so far into the future that it wouldn’t make sense…. but the the idea of bringing Ethan [Peck] back, and Anson [Mount] and Rebecca [Romijn] and the Enterprise, I mean, we loved it so much, that to find a way to do that is definitely something we’re thinking about a lot.”
