Star Trek: Discovery adds five more actors to its cast

With filming now underway on Star Trek: Discovery, featuring Sonequa Martin-Green as the show's lead, five more new cast members have been confirmed. Variety has revealed two more Starfleet officers and three Klingon characters, seemingly confirming rumours that the new series will focus on the Klingons as much as the officers of the USS Discovery.

Boarding the USS Discovery is Shazad Latif (Penny Dreadful) as Lieutenant Tyler, a Starfleet officer in the Federation and Rekha Sharma (Battlestar Galactica) asCommander Landry, the security officer of the Starship Discovery.

Finally the show adds Kenneth Mitchell (Jericho) as Commander Kol, Clare McConnell (Dim the Fluorescents) as Dennas and Damon Runyan (Suits) as Ujillim, both leaders in the Klingon Empire.

There is still no news yet in the release date for Star Trek: Discovery, with two delays already to production, but an announcement is likely due soon. Netflix will be picking up the broadcast here in the UK.

More news as we have it.
