Sex & The City prequel "The Carrie Diaries" gets pilot order
US network The CW has ordered a pilot for The Carrie Diaries, a prequel series following the life of a young Carrie Bradshaw prior to the events of Sex & The City, as reported by TV Line.
The original series ran on cable channel HBO for six seasons, from 1998 until 2004. The move to The CW, known for teen-focused programming such as Superman prequel Smallville, would mean no explicit sex or bad language. Presumably actress Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Carrie in the old series, will also not be involved, unless she is used as a narrator somehow.
In addition to The Carrie Diaries, The CW have also ordered pilots for Arrow, based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, as previously reported on The Digital Fix, and Beauty And The Beast, a revival of an eighties series featuring Linda Hamilton, using the fairy tale as a new twist on a police procedural.
Of course, a pilot order doesn't guarantee a series for any of these properties, so stay tuned to find out what happens next.
