Season 6 of Dexter the last?

Showtime's wonderful Dexter had it's season six premiere on Sunday in the US with astoundingly good ratings for a cable show of 2.2 million - up 24 % from the previous year. The best ratings on that network for fourteen years. But as the series nears a wrap, talks have hit a snag regarding any more seasons.

Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter, is after a new deal (current one runs out at season's end) worth a staggering $24 million but he's only been offered a paltry $20 million. Will he cope? Apparently not, or at least he's not willing to yet.

It seems a no-brainer - just pay the guy. The cost is high enough already so the extra $4 million (it sounds silly) is negligible in the grand scheme of things and he is the Golden Globe winning titular star of the most successful show on Showtime. Time will tell.
