Round-up - Silk ends, Lewis, House of Fools and Benidorm to return

With the conclusion of season three just around the corner, Peter Moffat has announced that Silk is coming to an end. The series stars Maxine Peake, Rupert Penry Jones and Neil Stuke and has been a launchpad for the careers of Natalie Dormer and Tom Hughes. Moffat said:

“It has been a complete joy to work with a group of actors as good as this and with a lead actress who I consider to be the best there is. The main characters in Silk all have personal and professional stories which are coming to a natural conclusion at the end of this current series - it would be dishonest as a writer and unfair to the integrity of the show and everyone involved in it, to prolong the series beyond what I hope is a powerful and compelling denouement."

Fox and Kevin Whately are back with Lewis lured back from retirement to renew the crime fighting duo.

Reeves and Mortimer will also be returning for a second season of their anti-sitcom House of Fools BBC Two have announced. Shane Allen, the Beeb's comedy controller (really), says "House Of Fools is a much-needed big old rainbow of daftness in a world that is too grey and sensible." Vic and Bob thanked the BBC for their "diligence".

And finally, Benidorm returns as well. In season four, Tim Healy, Sherrie Hewson and Johnny Vegas return with series creator Derren Litten writing all the episodes....
