Robert Aramayo cast as the lead in Amazon's The Lord of the Rings prequel TV series

Amazon's The Lord of the Rings prequel TV series has found its new lead, following the departure of previously cast Will Poulter. Robert Aramayo, who played a younger Ned Stark in several episodes of Game of Thrones, has been cast as Beldor, Deadline has reported.

Aramayo's casting is key as production is about to begin on the first two episodes of season one in New Zealand, with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's JA Bayona directing. Deadline has also reported that filming will then go on hiatus for four to five months to allow for work on the scripts for the recently confirmed second season.

Details continue to remain slim on the Second Age-based prequel series. But excitement is sure to remain high in the years ahead as fans prepare to return to Middle Earth. More news as we have it...
