Ripper Street will be back...

Timed not so subtly to tie in with the UK launch of Amazon Prime Instant Video, Amazon have today announced the revival of the recently cancelled Ripper Street. It will be a co-production with BBC America.

On their Prime Instant Video service you'll be able to watch the first two seasons of the BBC drama, before the third season is made available exclusively on the service before showing on the BBC months later.

With filming due to start in May 2014 we should see the series sometime early in 2015 in keeping with the annual precedent set by the Beeb.

Amazon's Head of Amazon Instant Video International Content Acquisition - now there's a job title - had this PR blurb to say about the news.

"We're delighted to have secured not only the highly popular first two seasons of Ripper Street for our Prime Instant Video customers, but we can also confirm today that we will making season three, news that we know will delight the millions of fans of this brilliant British drama," said Jason Ropell, "Prime Instant Video offers our customers the largest subscription streaming service in the UK with over 15,000 popular movies and TV episodes, many of which are exclusive to the service, and we're just getting started."
