No Fourth Season For Daredevil As Netflix Cancels The Show

Despite the recent critical acclaim Daredevil's third season received when it streamed on Netflix last month, it seems that was not enough to save it from the same fate as fellow Marvel superhero shows Iron Fist and Luke Cage. The streaming giant has decided to cancel the show, meaning no fourth run for the Man Without Fear.

Deadline broke the news on the cancellation on the show that debuted to huge success in 2015, starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil. It was followed by Jessica JonesLuke CageIron Fist and Avengers-style team up series The DefendersDaredevil's second season also debuted the MCU version of The Punisher.

Here's Netflix's statement to Deadline regarding the cancellation:

“Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note.”

"We’re thankful to our partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years."

The fates of Jessica Jones and The Punisher, both due to stream their third and second seasons respectively on Netflix next year, have yet to be decided. However, with Disney launching it's own rival streaming service, we wouldn't be surprised if these were the last runs too.
