Netflix coming to Sky Q and Now TV devices

One of the more disappointing aspects of the Now TV platform and devices was the lack of Netflix support (despite the fact that Now TV boxes and smart sticks are based on Roku hardware and the Roku OS which DOES natively support Netflix).

Thankfully that seems set to change with the news that Sky and Netflix have come to an agreement. Unfortunately Sky+ boxes won't be getting a Netflix app.

For Sky Q users, Netflix content will be exposed on the main Sky Q interface alongside other Sky Q content, whereas for Now TV users the standard Roku Netflix app will soon appear in the app store.

No firm dates have been provided other than this year for the UK and Ireland before the service spreads out across other European territories a little later. Alongside Netflix, Sky Q is also adding both Spotify and fully HDR support in future updates.

We need your help

Running a website like The Digital Fix - especially one with over 20 years of content and an active community - costs lots of money and we need your help. As advertising income for independent sites continues to contract we are looking at other ways of supporting the site hosting and paying for content.

You can help us by using the links on The Digital Fix to buy your films, games and music and we ask that you try to avoid blocking our ads if you can. You can also help directly for just a few pennies per day via our Patreon - and you can even pay to have ads removed from the site entirely.
