Because who needs Superman when you can have Lois and Lex investigating Fringe cases?
Gotham…without Batman. Krypton and Smallville not actually featuring Superman. And now the latest live action DC TV series to be developed is Metropolis, a show set is Superman’s home city. Except it won’t actually feature Superman at all.
According to DCComics.com, the new series will be set before Superman’s arrival in the city and focus on the iconic characters of Lois Lane and Lex Luthor. The city revealed the following details about Metropolis…
Metropolis will follow Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate the world of fringe science and expose the city’s dark and bizarre secrets. Airing exclusively on DC’s upcoming digital service, it promises to show us a wondrous and awe-inspiring City of Tomorrow, before the emergence of Superman, and establish much of the Man of Steel’s world leading up to his arrival.
Smallville meets Fringe? It’s an…interesting concept… and the second live-action prequel Superman series after the upcoming Krypton. The show will air on DC’s upcoming digital service alongside the recently cast Titans and is expected to debut next year, with a direct-to-series order for a first season of 13 episodes already confirmed.
Gotham executive producers John Stephens and Danny Cannon will also oversee Metropolis and Cannon will direct the first episode.
