Merlin: Series 4 DVD Release

The first episode of Merlin Series 4 only aired last weekend but it's already time to get excited about the DVD release!

The new series began on the 1st of October (see our review of the episode here) and will continue with a weekly episode until Christmas Eve, with each episode available for digital download 7 days after it broadcasts (those who purchase 'season tickets' for the downloads will also be able to access some exclusive out-takes).

Included on the DVD will be a huge amount of bonus features, including a making-of documentary, cast and crew audio commentaries, out-takes, deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes photos, and wallpapers for your computer. Each DVD will also include an exclusive Top Trumps card.

Series 4 resumes a year after where Series 3 left off, with Morgana a dangerous threat to Camelot, and Uther a broken man. In this series, Merlin must battle dark forces to ensure that Arthur fulfils his destiny as the Once and Future King.

It features guest appearances by Gemma Jones (Bridget Jones' Diary, Harry Potter), Phil Davis (Doctor Who), and Nathaniel Parker (Stardust, The Chronicles of Narnia) as well as the Knights becoming series regulars.

This series has been heralded to be the darkest yet (which was certainly confirmed in the first episode!).

Launched in 2008, Merlin is a retelling of the Arthurian Legends, with Merlin as Arthur's contemporary rather than the old, bearded advisor as he is commonly depicted.

Merlin stars Colin Morgan, Bradley James, Katie McGrath, Angel Coulby, Anthony Head, Richard Wilson, and John Hurt.
