Marvel's The Inhumans being developed for TV

When Marvel announced the phase 3 line for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Inhumans was scheduled to cap off the latest run. But with the acquisition of Spider-Man from Sony leading to Spider-Man: Homecoming and the success of Ant Man resulting in the sequel Ant Man and the Wasp there was no room for the big screen answer to mutants in the MCU.

Agents Of SHIELD introduced the Inhumans in season two, a mutant-like group of people with superhuman powers and they have been a recurring presence ever since, with Skye (Chloe Bennet) soon rebranded as Inhuman Daisy Johnson AKA Quake. But it was unknown whether it would ever lead the Inhuman royal family that would front The Inhumans movie. Now, after hanging around in limbo for some time, Marvel have announced that The Inhumans will becoming a TV series instead...and it will be getting its debut on US network ABC in 2017.

Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney|ABC Television Group made the following statement as part of the announcement.

"This unprecedented alliance represents a bold, innovative approach to launching great TV content for a worldwide audience. It highlights Disney|ABC’s unrelenting commitment to finding new and creative ways to showcasing our very best programming and increasing global engagement and reach." - ABC

There is no news yet on who the showrunner will be (though this may the Marvel Cinematic Universe TV project project John Ridley has been attached to). It is also not clear what impact this will have on Agents Of SHIELD (assuming of course it gets a fifth season). The show recently introduced Robbie Reyes / Ghost Rider into its fourth season in the US (it is yet to debut in the UK), with rumours of a Ghost Rider spin off show also doing the rounds.

More news on all these confirmed (and potential) shows, as we have it.
