Marvel developing Cloak And Dagger series for television
With the Marvel Cinematic Universe going strong, Agents Of SHIELD getting a fourth series and a new spin-off (Marvel's Most Wanted) and their Netflix shows getting critical acclaim, Marvel are developing another new TV series, this time for the Freeform channel (previously ABC Family). The new show will be based on the Cloak and Dagger comic series and be targeted towards the younger 14-34 demographic.
Variety have exclusively reported that the series had been given a straight to series order, unlike ABC's Marvel's Most Wanted which has only got as far as the pilot at this stage.
The Cloak And Dagger comic series features Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, who fall in love despite their different backgrounds. Their superpowers are the opposite of each other; Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness, but they they learn to work together.
There is no writer attached to this project yet but this announcement marks Marvel's increased confidence in developing its comic-book properties for the big and small screen. We'll bring more news as we have it.
