Jack Bauer could potentially return in 24: Legacy
24 spin-off 24: Legacy, will air in the US in February 2017, featuring a new central character, military hero Eric Carter (Corey Hawkins) as he attempts to stop a terrorist attack on US soil. After his return in 2014's 24: Live Another Day, it seemed as if Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer would be gone for good. However Deadline have reported that the former star of 24 could return to the franchise.
According to executive producer Howard Gordon, he has a plan for the second half of 24: Legacy that could feature a return of Jack Bauer for a couple of episodes. While Sutherland is headlining a new TV show Designated Survivor, Gordon believes that he might be able to make room for a guest stint on the spin-off series.
"I do think the character has life in him, whether it’s a movie or if he intersects with this new iteration of 24. I sure would love to see him at some point on the show, and I don’t think he’s ruled it out, either." - Fox
Gordon also suggests that other former 24 cast members could make appearances - an encore performance of Mary Lynn Rajskub's Chloe O'Brien anyone? Jack Bauer was last seen being dragged off to a Russian gulag at the end of 24: Live Another Day, so a return to the franchise could offer some closure (and a happy ending?) for him.
24: Legacy will air in 2017 for a 12-episode series. More news, including a UK airdate, as we have it...
