Inappropriate Advert on Channel 5 After Whitney Houston trailer

Channel 5 have apologised after the inappropriate timing of an advert following the trailer for a documentary about the recently deceased singer, Whitney Houston.

The offending trailer was for where a puppet of an elderly lady says “she looks better in a body bag”. The tagline for the Wonga advertisements is “straight talking money without the drama”. The advert was shown directly after a trailer for the documentary Whitney’s Addictions: Death of a Diva.

Twitter buzzed to life after its showing with one user saying, according to Huffington Post, it showed a “lack of respect” for the recently deceased diva.

On Monday, Channel 5 issued this apology:

"We apologise if any viewers were offended by the proximity of the promotional trail for Channel 5's Whitney Houston documentary and an advert. This was an unfortunate oversight and we have taken the appropriate steps to ensure that this does not happen again."
