HBO order a Watchman Pilot from Damon Lindelof

While a film adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen never reached the critical highs of many superhero movies, there's hope that the adventures of Doctor Manhattan, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, and Rorschach may appear on screen again. Variety has reported that HBO has ordered a pilot for a TV series based on the comics, with Damon Lindelof at the helm to develop the series.

There are no details yet on who else might be involved, including casting, but it's early days yet with Lindelof himself teasing that we was starting the script just a couple of days ago.

Watchmen was a DC Comics miniseries, featuring costumed superheroes in an alternate mid-20th Century United States where the US had been victorious in Vietnam and Nixon's presidency had continued into the mid-1980s. The Watchmen saw the heroes investigate the murder of one of their own and uncover a huge conspiracy.
