Grey's Anatomy becomes the longest running US medical drama as it gains a two season renewal
Long running medical drama Grey's Anatomy is showing no sign of hanging up it's scrubs yet. ABC have renewed the series for two more seasons, taking it up to season seventeen. This renewal will also make it the longest running US medical drama, beating ER, which ran for fifteen seasons.
Recurring characters Doctor Atticus Lincoln (Chris Carmack), Doctor Thomas Koracick (Greg German) and Doctor Levi Schmidtt (Jake Borelli) have all been promoted to series regulars from season sixteen. The current fifteenth season is currently nearing the end of its run with new episodes airing in UK on Sky Witness.
Also joining Grey's Anatomy is spin-off series Station 19, which has been picked up for a third season. Current Grey's Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff is also stepping up to oversee the fire department-based drama. The show is airing in the UK on Sky Witness now.
How To Get Away With Murder has also been renewal for another season, heading into it's sixth run. The fifth season is due to air in the UK on Sky Witness next month. Joining it is cop drama The Rookie (currently airing on Sky Witness) for season two and Fresh Off The Boat for season five, which can be watched on Amazon Prime in the UK.
