Glen Morgan and James Wong to write new episodes of The X Files

One of the biggest hopes behind the six-episode revival of The X Files is that the show can recreate the glory days of its early years. 24: Live Another Day managed on this but arguably The X Files has an even more complex, convoluted past. Thankfully the news that writers Glen Morgan and James Wong will be back to pen and direct one episode each looks to be another huge step in the right direction.

Fans of the early years will remember that they wrote such iconic episodes as season one's Squeeze, Ice and Tooms, season two's One Breath and season four's horrifying Home.

Glen Morgan will also be taking on a role as executive producer on the new limited series alongside series creator Chris Carter, while his brother Darin Morgan also be writing for the show. It has been confirmed that these episodes will be a mix of mythology and monster-of-the-week episodes; our money is on Morgan and Wong working on the latter.

Last week Mitch Pileggi confirmed he would be returning to The X Files alongside David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. So far, everything is looking good for the six-episode revival...
