Doctor Who Series Nine: Capaldi And Gomez Tease The Return To Past Episodes...
We've known for a while now that the cliffhanger to episode eleven of Doctor Who series nine was going to be a big one, but could it be the moment Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor joins his past selves to save Gallifrey in Day Of The Doctor?
During an interview with YouTuber Erik Nagel, Capaldi was asked when audiences might witness his incarnation cross over to that momentous episode. “I know stuff that is unfolding in Episode 11 and I know certain things that are happening in Episode 12." Capaldi replied. I don’t know exactly what’s going on there, but … You’ll have to wait and see!”
He also teased a return to the events of another episode, series four's The Fires Of Pompeii which saw Capaldi as the Roman Caecilius, alongside David Tennant's Tenth Doctor. "My Roman alter-ego [...] he may appear again."
Steven Moffat has long teased that there is a reason the same face has popped up more than once in the Doctor Who universe; you'll also remember he played the tragic John Frobisher in Torchwood's Children Of Earth miniseries. Will that be addressed in series nine?
Looking to more recent episodes and Michelle Gomez, who will be returning this year as the wonderful, villainous Missy, has also teased a return of a familiar series eight location; the garden setting featured in Deep Breath. "Yes, there’s a connection yet to be revealed. Oh, there’s no coincidence in Doctor Who. Everything’s connected, that’s what makes it really spooky in a way.”
Lots to ponder over before Doctor Who returns to our screens on September 19th...
