Doctor Who in 2012 delayed until autumn: UPDATED

Earlier this week, we brought you news of how awesome the Christmas Special of Doctor Who looks to be. Well it's a good thing it's going to be so good because it's going to be the last one for quite a while.

Doctor Who Magazine has confirmed that the seventh series of the show will air around September time in 2012 rather than the spring run it usually has.

We don't know whether the series will run interrupted as in previous years of the show, or if it will follow this year's pattern of being split halfway through. So it's possible that we will have half of the series in autumn 2012, the 2012 Christmas special and then the second half of the series in 2013.

Either way, it's a long time to wait. Honestly, I'm not sure how I'll cope.

UPDATED: Steven Moffat has now confirmed that it will be one continuous series with no split. So that's nice. It'll be a very good end of 2012 for sci-fi fans.
