Desperate Housewives Despair?

ABC will announce on Sunday that Desperate Housewives will end its run after the 8th (and now final) season plays out in May next year. The opening episode for it's last year premieres in the US on Sunday September 25th.

A slightly odd decision. It rakes in viewers domestically (20-30 million) and abroad (120 million total), brings in massive revenues ($2.74 million per half hour) and was believed to get a shot at a 9th year given ABC had options on all the key cast members.

Oh well, all things must come to an end eventually and for a show which didn't seem likely to make it past the first eight episodes, the success has been astounding.

Head over to Deadline for the scoop.
