The CW renews 10 shows: Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Riverdale, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and more returning

If you're a fan on any of the shows on The CW network, then chances are you're going to be happy with the latest slate of renewals for the 2018/19 season. 10 shows have been picked up for new seasons, leaving just four hanging (Life SentenceThe 100Valor and iZombie, which will apparently be decided on in May).

The flagship superhero slate will all be back with Arrow returning for a seventh season, The Flash for season five, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow for season four (with the latter adding Matt Ryan's John Constantine as a season regular). New series Black Lightning, which is so far unconnected to the rest, will also be returning for a second run.

Also back is critically acclaimed Crazy Ex-Girlfriend for season four and Jane the Virgin for a fifth season, both rumoured to be their final seasons. Riverdale will also be back for a third season and new remake Dynasty for a second run too. Finally Supernatural will be back for a record-breaking (for a genre show) season fourteen. Not bad for a series that had an original five-year end game.

On the rewals, The CW president Mark Pedowitz made the following statement.

"As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday through Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these ten series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come. And I’m especially happy that we’ll continue to work with the incredibly talented casts, producers, and writers who create the series our fans are so passionate about.”

In the meantime, you can catch our weekly reviews of The Flash and Black Lightning with Steven Slatter, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow with Robert Turnbull and Arrow with Bax Greenland.

Fans of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend should also check out Jacki Badger's recent feature 'While I'm Eternally Grateful for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' , as she selects some of the best original songs from the series.
