Cast Juggling: The Saint, True Blood and Downton Abbey

Some cast movement to report today, as high-profile actors move around shows. Which genre actors will be appearing in the upcoming revamp of The Saint? Which former guest star will be upping his time with True Blood? And who is stepping down(ton) from the Abbey?

All this and not a lot more!

ITEM! First up, former T-1000 and X-Files co-star Robert Patrick has signed on as a regular for True Blood in their sixth season. He'll be reprising his role as Alcide's father, already seen in three episodes of season five. Deadline have the full story, including a moody picture of his bearded face.

ITEM! More news-grabbingly, actor Dan Stevens has opted not to return to Downton Abbey full-time as Matthew Crawley. He'll appear in the upcoming Christmas special, but beyond that he may only be a part-time character. TV Line has the full story, including the rumour that he might be re-cast. Which would be odd in a non-soap drama.

ITEM! Finally, a cheerier piece: a relaunch of classic spy series The Saint, casting the character as a modern day Robin Hood, is on the cards stateside, according to Deadline. Names attached include Adam Rayner (of Hunted) in the lead and Eliza Dushku (of Buffy and Dollhouse) as love interest. Oh, and Roger Moore as producer, obviously.

No network yet attached to The Saint pilot, it could never even become a series. We'll see.
