Another One Bites the Dust!

Zai Bennett has been at it again! The BBC Three controller has axed yet another of its comedy series, White Van Man after two series. Bennet has axed almost all of the comedy shows he inherited when he took over BBC Three at the end of 2010. Only Russell Howard’s Good Newshas survived the cutting spree, whilst we have said goodbye to Mongrels, Two Pints of Lager and How Not to Live Your Life.

The first series of White Van Man attracted an average of 860,000 viewers. However, the second series which aired last month has only managed to attract half of that figure. The cancellation comes after the news that American broadcaster, ABC is developing their version of the sitcom with My Name is Earl executive producer Bobby Bowman writing the US adaptation.

Will Mellor, who appeared in White Van Man tweeted:

“White van man is over! Thanks for all your support, but the BBC don't think its worthy of a third series! Politics.”

The series writer Adrian Poynton added:

“On behalf of everyone involved, thank you for your support. We were all ready to do more but the BBC have decided against it. Feel free to spread the news to people who loved the show (and complain as much as you like to the BBC). We are all gutted.”
