Anabella Sciorra cast as the primary villain for Luke Cage season two

As we head closer to the debut of Luke Cage season two, we're starting to get new details behind the returning Marvel Netflix series, including the main villain.

Not only will Luke Cage  (Mike Colter) have to deal with more machinations from Black Mariah (Alfre Woodward) and Shades (Theo Rossi), he will have to face off against the second season's primary villain Rosalie Carbone, Variety has confirmed. Carbone is described as a dangerous downtown criminal underworld power player with an eye, and an agenda, toward Harlem.

Annabella Sciorra, best known for roles in The Sopranos and Jungle Fever, will play Carbone, a role that may potentially crossover to The Punisher season two too.

Luke Cage executive producer and showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker made the following statement about her casting.

“I’ve been a huge fan of hers since Spike Lee’s ‘Jungle Fever,’ and Anabella Sciorra is no joke as Rosalie Carbone. You haven’t seen her this gangster since her thrilling turn as Tony’s formidable flame Gloria Trillo on Season Three of ‘The Sopranos.’ I’m thrilled her introduction to the Marvel Universe will be on Marvel’s ‘Luke Cage.'”

Variety also revealed the following synopsis.
In the second season of “Luke Cage,” Luke has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem after clearing his name with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so well known has only increased the pressure he feels to protect the community. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

Luke Cage, which also stars Simone Missick as Misty Knight, will air on Netflix from the 22nd June.
