Hidden Gems - Digital Treasures, June 2017

These days we have access to so many amazing digital TV offerings, whether paid for like Netflix, Amazon Prime or NowTV; or free or advertising supported like BBC player, All 4 or ITV Hub. With so much choice it can be hard to decide between all the offerings, there's sadly no cross-platform search or recommendation engine. So, here at The Digital Fix we've decided to unearth some of hidden gems of the streaming TV world, for your viewing pleasure. Every month we'll pick out the best, or most interesting, from what's new, old or obscure.

Twin Peaks

With the new season of Twin Peaks airing, reviewed here on The Digital Fix, there's never been a better time to refresh your memory of those first two seasons. Decide for yourself whether the nostalgia is warranted!

Boardwalk Empire

Atlantic City during the Prohibition, and it's very much Steve Buscemi's town. This was some fantastic television, and definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it already.

To crime now, wherein Danny Boyle created a police drama for Channel 4, starring James Nesbitt and Brit Marling. The series follows the new Director of Communications, who has been headhunted by the Police Commissioner to drag the force into the new media age, and her conflicts with her own department and legal bureaucracy. This is intercut with the happenings within a team in the Territorial Support Group and a team of authorised firearms officers in the Specialist Firearms Command.

American Gods

American Gods is a show that hasn't finished airing yet, and we're reviewing it here, but it really is worth re-recommending. A stylish, mysterious road trip through the mystic landscape of America. If for nothing else, watch it for Gillian Anderson.
