Watch out for a soggy bottom
It’s pastry week in the tent, which is my favourite week because I get to be furious at how difficult they make pastry seem when it’s actually just a case of following a recipe and using your common sense. The challenges look ridiculous and the bakers are almost certainly going to cry. It’s going to be good.
Pastry week is also ripe for puns. There’s always the fear of a soggy bottom, and with all the kneading and squishing and butter and soft, squishy dough, Mel and Sue are usually in their element.
Recommended bake off snacks this week are jam tarts, sausage rolls and croissants, although I’m just going for a chippy because I finished work too late to go to the shop to get anything decent. Onward, friends!
Guessed the spoiler? Are modern audiences too savvy for TV show twists?
