Morph and Chas for CBBC comeback
Do you remember Morph and Chas? Of course you do! Those cute play-do stop motion characters that got up to mischief. Tony Hart’s creations are set for a comeback on CBBC with animator Ricky Martin in a new one-off show, Ricky’s Radical Reinventions.
The characters made their debut on Tony Hart’s Take Hart in 1977 and continued to appear with the artist all the way up to 2009 when he died. Morph also featured in popular art show, SMart from 1994-2006.
Ricky’s Radical Reinventions is an Aardman Animations production and it shows Ricky Martin attempt to make products from everyday objects, unaware of Morph and Chas’ “shenanigans” in the back of his van.
CBBC controller Damian Kavangh said:
"It's exciting to be able to introduce Morph and Chas to our audience for the very first time – and parents will no-doubt enjoy seeing them return to our screens too."
"They're not the only stars of the show, though. Ricky Martin is a real talent and has an amazing ability to engage children and inspire them to get creative, and that's what CBBC is all about. Watching TV shouldn't be a passive experience for kids."
The executive producer of Aardman Animations, Miles Bullough added:
"It's so exciting for us to team up Morph and Chas, Aardman's first and original creations by Peter Lord and David Sproxton, with a brand new young and exciting talent like Ricky Martin, who Aardman took on as a graduate from Bristol's UWE."
