JJ Abrams looking to return to television with new TV space drama
Before he shepherded the return of Star Trek and Star Wars to the big screen, JJ Abrams was the main behind some of TV biggest shows, working on the likes of Alias and Lost. But he hasn't written for television since he created Fringe in 2008.
However, The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Abrams has been shopping a space-set spec script and that both HBO (where he serves as executive producer on Westworld) and Apple are interested in the Warner Bros - produced series.
The site has also revealed some details about the show's premise.
The Abrams drama is about a family — consisting of a mother who works as a scientist, her husband and their young daughter — who all get into a terrible car crash. After the mother winds up in a coma, her daughter begins digging through her experiments in the basement and winds up being transported to another land amid a world's battle against a monstrous, oppressive force. Her father then follows her into this new world.
