First sneak peek at the Doctor Who 2017 Christmas Special
More on Doctor Who
It's just 38 days until Christmas (yes, start your panic buying) and that also means we've not got long until Peter Capaldi's swansong in the Doctor Who Christmas special. And now Children In Need has given fans their first look at Twice Upon A Time, which sees the Twelfth Doctor come face to face with his first incarnation (played by David Bradley, who in turn played William Hartnell in 50th special An Adventure In Time And Space).
The brief clip shows Bradley delivering Hartnell's Doctor to perfection as he enters the latest version of the TARDIS (alongside Mark Gatiss's mysterious soldier) and voices his disgust at the new decor. If the banter between Bradley and Capaldi shown here is anything to go by, this year's Christmas special is going to be quite the treat.
Twice Upon A Time will also mark the departure of long-running showrunner Steven Moffat and Murray Gold, who has been composing Doctor Who since its return in 2005. It will also see the debut of the first female Doctor played by Jodie Whittaker (check out her costume here and our thoughts on her casting here), with Chris Chibnall taking over for 2018's series 11.
And of course, it was thanks to Children In Need that we got to see this preview. If you haven't donated yet, you can do so by heading over to the BBC here.
