The return of Star Trek to television screens has been met with some controversy but a lot of critical acclaim. And fortunately this isn't the end for Star Trek: Discovery, as CBS have picked the show up for a second season.

Marc DeBevoise, President and Chief Operating Officer of VHS Interactive made the following statement:

“In just six episodes, Star Trek: Discovery has driven subscriber growth, critical acclaim and huge global fan interest for the first premium version of this great franchise. This series has a remarkable creative team and cast who have demonstrated their ability to carry on the ‘Star Trek’ legacy. We are extremely proud of what they’ve accomplished and are thrilled to be bringing fans a second season of this tremendous series.”

As previously rumoured, season two won't be quick though, with an early 2019 airfare currently planned.

The show currently airs in the UK on Netflix each Monday and you can check out our weekly reviews on the site.
