What To Watch: 19/12/2011
Christmas is good for lots of things, but mainly for absolutely cracking TV. From the 19th December to the 1st January, we'll be giving you a daily report on what you should be watching.
Christmas University Challenge
7:30pm on BBC2
For fans of the best quiz show on TV (shut up, it is) this is one to watch. Alumni compete, with the University of York battling against Manchester.
The Bleak Old Shop of Stuff
8:30pm on BBC2
Starring Robert Webb, Stephen Fry, Una Stubbs and Johnny Vegas, this is one of those classic shows that the Beeb throws out around Christmas time. A Victorian shop owner's family is thrown in jail until the proprietor can repay a debt.
A spoof of Dickens novels, it's set to be ruddy brilliant. Stuffed with wordplay and silliness, it's pure Christmas cheese at its best.
A Question of Sport
8:30pm on BBC1
Another seasonal special. Sue Barker asks the questions. Tim Lovejoy, Jake Humphrey, Patrick Kielty and Alistair McGowan ask the questions.
King of Christmas Lights
9:00pm on Channel 4
Reality TV at its best, Cutting Edge looks at people who have gone...well, perhaps a little overboard with the Christmas lights.
Never Mind the Buzzcocks
10:00pm on BBC2
John Barrowman is hosting this, which probably means you can expect to be cringing and laughing uproariously in equal measure. The guests are Jason Derulo, Joe Wilkinson, Jason Manford and Helen Skelton, with usual hosts Noel Fielding and Phil Jupitus.
10:35pm on BBC1
A must for comedy fans, this is a look at the backgrounds and influences of comedians such as Eddie Izzard, Billy Connolly, Jack Dee and Simon Amstell.
