Fist of Fun finally on DVD

You may know Stewart Lee from Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle on the BBC. You may know Richard Herring from his many brilliant podcasts, radio and live shows. But unless you're at least in your mid-20s, you probably don't know them from Fist of Fun. It's a fantastic sketch show dating back to 1995, that you've probably never seen as it's one of those shows the BBC never really bothered to repeat. In fact, they didn't bother to do anything with it, including releasing it on DVD.
So earlier this year, Stewart, Richard and the lovely folks at Go Faster Stripe bought the rights to it so they could get it out there themselves. The first series is now out in a 4-DVD boxset that includes all six episodes, commentaries on all of them, the unbroadcast pilot, a live show and an interview.

And then there's the other two discs.

All the leftover studio-tapes have been included. That means the out-takes, deleted scenes, chat between sketches and so on. For anyone interested in just how TV is (or at least was) made, this sounds fascinating. Oh and there's DVD-ROM content too.

It's a brilliant package of a show once thought lost, and hopefully we'll have a full review for you soon, in the meantime if you want the perfect gift for a comedy-loving friend or family member, you need to head over to Go Faster Stripe as you can't get it in the shops.
