Doctor Who christmas special title revealed, key cast members confirmed

Before Jodie Whittaker takes over as the Thirteenth Doctor, Peter Capaldi will bow out in this year's Christmas special and now the BBC have revealed the title for the Twelfth Doctor's swansong story; Twice Upon a Time.

It's of course a reference to both Doctors, as the Twelfth will working with David Bradley as the First Doctor. Joining them will be Mark Gatiss, will play a World War One soldier - known only as ‘The Captain’. Gatiss's was announced earlier this weekend but this is the first time details and images of his role have been released.

The first teaser for Twice Upon a Time has just been released too, which [SPOILER] confirms a returning character too.

Just to be cautious,  we'll post the identity of the returning character below for those who don't want to spoiled...

Last seen transformed into an alien and travelling the universe with Heather at the end of The Doctor Falls, Pearl Mackie's Bill will be back for one further adventure to send the Twelfth Doctor on his way. It is not known yet whether she will appear again when Chris Chibnall takes over for Doctor Who series 11.

The long-running BBC TV science fiction series that started in 1963 and recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary. 2017 saw Peter Capaldi regenerate into the show's first female Doctor played by Jodie Whittaker. The Thirteenth Doctor's first season debuts in 2018, with Chris Chibnall replacing Steven Moffat as the current showrunner.
