Stars line up for the Royal Variety Performance

It has been announced that Bolton favourite, Peter Kay is to host this year’s Royal Variety Performance. He previously hosted the event in 2009. It will be performed at the Lowry Theatre in Salford on 5th December.

Kay will be joined by fellow Northern comedian Jason Manford, Inbetweeners star Greg Davies, musical comedian Tim Minchin and The Boy With Tape On His Face. Other performers include legendary singers such as Tony Bennett and Barry Manilow, operatic group Il Divo, stars of Fool Us Penn and Teller and this year’s Britain’s Got Talent winner, Jai McDowall.


Laurie Mansfield, life president of the Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund said:

“The greatest artists in entertainment have always featured on theRoyal Variety Performance and this year is no exception.”

It will take place in front of the Princess Royal. This is the first time in 20 years that the event has not been attended by either the Queen or the Prince of Wales.


Royal Variety Performance will be aired on ITV after the broadcaster signed a 10 year deal to broadcast the event.
