Amy Acker cast as the lead in the new X-Men TV series
The various superhero TV universes keep on growing and on the back of the excellent Legion comes another X-Men TV series, currently under development by Burn Notice creator Matt Nix. There have been a few casting announcements as of late, (different to Marvel's The Inhumans TV series which has just added Ken Leung cast as Karnak). But the latest announcement is surely the best; Amy Acker has been cast as the show's lead.
Acker, known for numerous cult classics from Angel to Alias to Person Of Interest, will be playing Kate Stewart, the mother of the central family who goes on the run to protect her mutant children. The Hollywood Reporter, who announced Acker's casting has also confirmed that Emma Durmont and Percy Hynes White have joined the cast as Polaris, 'a strong-willed, brave and loyal mutant who has the ability to manipulate magnetism' and Andy, 'a sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home respectively.
Natalie Alyn Lind was previously cast as one of Kate Stewart's children, while True Blood's Stephen Moyer will be playing Kate's husband. Sean Teale will be playing the mutant Eclipse and Jamie Chung will be taking on the role of Blink. Finally Blair Redford will also be playing an as of yet unnamed mutant.
The cinematic X-Men maestro Bryan Singer will be directing the pilot episode.
