More cast members confirmed for Star Trek: Discovery as Doug Jones and Anthony Rapp join the show

After last week's semi-confirmed announcement that Michelle Yeoh had joined the cast of Star Trek: Discovery, Deadline has revealed two more actors who are joining the Star Trek show.

The site states that Doug Jones will play Lt. Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer and a new alien species to the Star Trek universe. Anthony Rapp will play Lt. Stamets, an astromycologist, fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer aboard the Starship Discovery. Deadline confirmed their earlier story that Yeoh will play a Starfleet Captain aboard the Starship Shenzhou, though she now appears to be called Captain Georgiou.

Interestingly Deadline also state that the female lead has not been cast, though CBS are close to finalising the actress.

Star Trek: Discovery will air on CBS All Access in the US in May 2017. The show will air on Netflix here in the UK the next day...
