HBO renews Westworld for season two
More on Game of Thrones
Westworld's debut on HBO has been a critical success, so it's no surprise that it has been renewed for a second season. It will be back for 10 more episodes alongside fellow debut series Divorce and Insecure. However you shouldn't expect to see it for some time; given the massive production on the first season, work on a second year will mean we won't be getting more episodes until 2018.
Entertainment Weekly spoke to HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys about the renewal, when season two will air and the plans pitched by execuitve producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.
"My suspicion is sometime in 2018 because of how big the world is and what goes into shooting it. So I don’t have a date exactly – they’re going to have to map it out and write the scripts – but my guess is sometime in ‘18.
"Jonah and Lisa great storytellers. I didn’t know exactly what to expect in season 2. And what they came up with is as exciting, mysterious and as fun as season 1. And completely original, as well." - EW
At the same time, Bloys was asked about rumours of the Game Of Thrones prequel series and talks with George R R Martin.
"I would say it’s still kind of preliminary, ongoing talks. There are areas we are exploring but I wouldn’t point to anyone and say this is what we’re going to do.." - EW
Westworld continues to air on Sky Atlantic on Tuesdays at 9pm and you check out the latest review from Baz Greenland here.
