Tyler Hoechlin cast as Superman in season two of Supergirl
While Henry Cavill continues to play the big screen version of Superman in the DC Cinematic Universe, The CW has found its own version of the Man Of Steel for its TV superhero universe. And sorry, it isn't Smallville's Tom Welling...
DCcomics.com has confirmed that Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as Clark Kent / Superman and will turn up in the opening two episodes of Supergirl season two. The show's Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg made the following statement:
"Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.” - The CW
Meanwhile, further castings have been announced on fellow superhero shows Arrow and Legends Of Tomorrow. Rick Gonzalez has been cast in a recurring role as DC Comics' violent vigilante Wild Dog, whose reckless nature forces the Green Arrow to take him under his wing. While on Legends Of Tomorrow, the latest character to join the season two line-up is Citizen Steel, a hero literally made of metal. Nick Zano has been cast as Steel's alter ego Dr. Nate Heywood, a historian whose grandfather was Commander Steel, a member of the Justice Society of America.
With the recent news of an alternate Vixen joining Legends Of Tomorrow season two and Supergirl adding five new major roles including Lena Luthor, it seems as if the next season of the Arrowverse is going to be bigger than ever...
